GoDaddy Domain Registrar Review

GoDaddy

Looking for a place to find and register your domain name?

Let’s take a look at my No.1 place to do that and much more.

GoDaddy was founded in 1997. This makes GoDaddy one of the longest operating domain registrars around. It’s the largest ICANN-accredited registrar.

GoDaddy has over 30 million domains registered through them. The most recent study shows that is about 3 times the second largest registrar which has about 10 million domains.

That makes GoDaddy three times larger than their second closest competitor, quite impressive for an industry and a company that is just over 10 years old.

Customers

A decent barometer for determining a companies abilities is to look at their customer base. GoDaddy has over 7 million customers. They provide 24/7 live customer service.

It’s always a good sign when two things occur, first they have a large customer base and two they are a public company. Public companies need to file constantly and have an incentive to assure they treat their customers fairly.

This is just a general statement, doesn’t mean that non-public companies don’t treat their customers well, but public ones are definitely incentivized to keep their record as spotless as possible. Take it from 7 million customers.

GoDaddy Corporate

GoDaddy has been ranked on the Inc. 500 list of the fastest-growing privately held companies as well as listed on the Deloitte Technology Fast 500. They have also won multiple awards.

Domain Manager

GoDaddy has an excellent domain manager to make updates to your domains.

Chanding a DNS entry is quick and simple. They also provide all the services such as domain masking, redirection and more.

Their ease of use also allows you to set up multiple forms of payment and auto-renew to assure you do not forget to renew your domains.

GoDaddy has become the world’s #1 choice for domains by providing innovative, competitively-priced products, delivering the highest quality customer service, and by always appreciating and listening to its customers!

Hi Dragan, it’s Lee from Ali’s site. Concerning the statement above. I’ve read far and wide and cannot seem to find a good explanation for “domain masking” and “redirection”. Can you help me with these two item? Maybe explain them better than others have? Thank you so much. No rush. Would just like to get an answer from someone I understand! ;) Thanks againl

    • OK one thing after another.

      1. Domain name masking or forwarding lets you automatically direct your domain name’s visitors to a different website. Masking prevents visitors from seeing your domain name forwarding by keeping your domain name in the Web browser’s address bar.
Basically, you must have two domains. For example, forwarding yourblog.COM to yourblog.NET.
      - option 1: forwarding without masking: Visitor goes to .COM –> site visitor sees .NET –> adress bar displays .NET
      - option 2: forwarding with masking: Visitor goes to .COM –> site visitor sees .NET –> adress bar displays .COM

      2. Domain redirect automatically sends your website’s visitors to a chosen destination, either a different location within the same site or a new site entirely. For example, you can redirect visitors from your domain root to a content sub-directory, such as a blog.

Both of these features can be set up through your GoDaddy’s account manager. It’s not a big deal at all ;) .

Lee, I hope things are more clearly now. Don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions or doubts.
