Even if we don’t expect that the new version of iPhone will be named iPhone5, seems like Apple is trying really hard to assure the rights for that name.
According to Fusible.com, a blog that monitors domain names purchases, Apple recently filed a dispute to gain the ownership of iPhone5.com domain.
Apple has numerous domains in its property
If Apple wins this dispute and gets control over the domain iphone5.com, again it is very questionable if the company will use it. According to Fusible.com, Apple has numerous domains in its property in order to protect their products.
For example: the company has assured the rights for the domains: iphone4.com, iphoneporn4s.com, iphonesex.com, iphonexxxforce.com, etc…
But that’s not all, Apple has already won disputes over: applesales.com, appleproductsonline.com, applepods.com, and even ipods.com.
In 2011 Apple bought up domains iPhone4.com and whiteiphone.com for an undisclosed amount of money. In fact, these domains were used by their owners for redirecting users to porn sites. In the next years it could be much more of this disputes. At the moment Apple doesn’t own the rights for the domains iphone6.com … 7,8,9,10 …
According to many analysts, Apple doesn’t have the intention to name the new iphone – iPhone 5, but simply the new iPhone as it was the case with the iPad that hasn’t become iPad 3, but only the New iPad. In the end iMac was named just iMac, and not iMac 4, 5 or six.
As written by iDownload Blog, iPhone is the only Apple’s product that uses the numeric scheme, so it could be wise to leave this practice.
Some sources claim that October is still the month we’ll be lining up outside our local Apple Stores, even if Apple itself doesn’t quite know what the thing we are buying will look like…
So, what do you think? Will they name it iPhone5, the New iPhone, or something different?
